Annabel Harrill papers, 1942 - 1999.

Annabel Harrill Collection of Papers consist of papers, photographs and slides collected during study on Ashe County, North Carolina mills. Many mills were located in the South Fork of the New River area. Also included are newspaper clippings and a ballad about Laura Foster, a Wilkes County, North Carolina native who was murdered in the 1860s.

Annabel Harrill is a native of Ashe County, North Carolina. Her ancestors worked in mills. She was on the Board of the National Committee for the New River. Basil D. Barr (1894-1995) was a native of Ashe County, North Carolina. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1921. In 1934, he was postmaster in West Jefferson.
